Which networks you can connect
| Network | Which account connects | What ōrbita publishes |
|---|---|---|
| Professional account (Business or Creator) linked to a Facebook page. Instagram connects through Facebook. If you do not have a page or do not know what it is, follow the step-by-step guide. | Image, carousel, Reel and Story, with your own cover. | |
| Business pages. Facebook does not allow publishing on personal profiles from external tools. | Image, several photos, video, Reel, Story, text and link. | |
| Personal profile. For now only personal profiles connect. | Text, one or several images, video, PDF document (carousel), article with a link and poll. | |
| TikTok | TikTok account. | Video and photo posts, with your own cover. |
| YouTube | YouTube channel. | Videos (up to 15 minutes, or 60 if the channel is verified) and Shorts (vertical or square, up to 3 minutes), with title, description, chapters, tags, category and your own thumbnail. All the limits and settings in the YouTube guide. |
| Google Business Profile | The business’s Google listing. | Updates, events and offers with an image. Updates stop showing after 7 days; events and offers last until their end date. |
Each company connects one account per network. If you manage several businesses, each one has its own connections.
Two particularities today:
- YouTube: when you connect your channel you see a link to YouTube’s Terms of Service.
- Google Business Profile: each post carries an image or an MP4 video of up to 30 seconds. Detail in Your Google listing in ōrbita.
How to connect an account
- Go to Company settings > Connections inside the company.
- Tap “Connect” on the network. Before going out to the network, ōrbita shows you which permissions it is going to ask for and why.
- Sign in to the network and accept. On Instagram, Facebook and Google you will have to choose which page, account or listing to use if you have several; until you do, the connection stays “half done” and the row tells you.
- You come back to ōrbita with the connection active. The row shows the account’s real name.
Connecting a network requires access to that company; disconnecting it requires Admin level or higher.
Problems connecting Instagram or Facebook? It is almost always one of these reasons: the Instagram account is not professional, it is not linked to a Facebook page, or the profile you sign in with does not have full control of the page. We explain them one by one, with the solution, in the Instagram and Facebook page guide.
Schedule and publish
From the Schedule step of a proposal you choose the networks, the date and the time. At that time ōrbita publishes and updates the proposal’s Status by network block, with each network’s attempt history. Publishing or scheduling requires Editor level or higher.
Before scheduling, in the Preview step, each network has its own options (first comment, alternative text, Instagram collaborators, TikTok music, LinkedIn mentions): they are explained in Options by network.
What is published cannot be edited from ōrbita: any correction is made on the network itself.
If a network is not connected: assisted mode by email
You do not have to connect every network. If you schedule a proposal for a network with no connection, about 30 minutes before the scheduled time you receive an email and a notification with the final text and the attached material, ready to copy and paste into the network. This way a post is never lost even if an account cannot be connected.
The Schedule step tells you which networks of that proposal do not have an active connection and offers “Connect networks” right there. If all of them are connected, ōrbita publishes without notifying you; turn on “Notify me by email and notification” if you want the notice anyway. A draft does not notify.
When something fails
- The network rejects the post. In “Status by network” you see the reason in plain language and the options: Retry now, Cancel or Mark as published if you have already uploaded it by hand. You also receive an email.
- The session expires. Networks expire permissions every so often. ōrbita renews them on its own while it can and, when it cannot, the network’s row in Connections warns you in advance (“The session expires in N days”) and asks you to reconnect. If you want to renew it sooner, tap the “Refresh” button on the row and then “Reconnect now”.
- Image crop. Instagram requires specific proportions in the feed and carousels; if the image does not fit, ōrbita asks you to crop it before scheduling. On the other networks cropping is optional.
Where to see what happens after publishing
The followers, views and interactions of the connected networks are saved every day in Metrics.
