Connect your channel
You connect YouTube like the other networks, from Company settings > Connections. The screen shows you a link to YouTube’s Terms of Service before you sign in with your Google account.
Each company connects one YouTube channel. If your Google account has a single channel, ōrbita picks it on its own; if it has several (for example, brand accounts), you choose which one to use. If you need to manage several channels, each one needs its own company (its own calendar) in ōrbita.
Videos and Shorts
Each YouTube post carries a single video: the first of the files you add. In the formats the ōrbita selector accepts: mp4, mov or webm.
Limits:
- Size: up to 1 GB per file.
- Length: 15 minutes if your channel is not phone-verified, or 60 minutes if it is.
When is it a Short? YouTube decides, not ōrbita: if the video is vertical or square and lasts 3 minutes or less, YouTube publishes it as a Short. You do not need to write #Shorts anywhere. If your file is horizontal or longer than 3 minutes, ōrbita warns you on the file’s row, but that does not block publishing: the video goes out anyway, as a normal video.
Title, description, chapters, tags and category
- Title: up to 100 characters, with a live counter.
- Description: up to 5,000 characters. The first two lines are the only thing visible before the person taps “more”, so put the key message there.
- Chapters: not a separate field. They are generated from timestamps you write yourself on their own lines of the description (for example,
00:00 Intro): you need at least 3 chapters, the first one has to be exactly00:00, and each one must come at least 10 seconds after the previous one. - Tags: up to 500 characters combined across all of them, without
#. - Category: you choose one of the 15 categories fixed ones that YouTube offers. “People & Blogs” is selected by default.
Thumbnail
You can upload your own thumbnail: a JPEG or PNG image of up to 2 MB, cropped 16:9 (1280×720 recommended). YouTube only accepts custom thumbnails on phone-verified channels. If YouTube rejects the thumbnail, the video is published anyway, without it, and ōrbita warns you.
On Shorts you cannot set a thumbnail from ōrbita: it is a YouTube limit, which always uses a frame of the video itself for Shorts.
Made for kids and AI-generated content
Before scheduling or publishing you have to mark two declarations that YouTube requires, with none preselected:
- Made for kids: whether the video is aimed at minors.
- Altered or synthetic content (AI): whether the video has synthetic parts that could look real.
A person marks both: even if you have your agent connected to ōrbita, it cannot fill them in for you.
Visibility and other settings
You choose Public, Unlisted or Private. If the video is private, your subscribers are not notified even if you have that box ticked. You can also decide whether to allow the video to be embedded on other websites and choose the license: YouTube’s standard one or Creative Commons (Attribution). Like “made for kids”, the Creative Commons license is something you mark: your agent cannot.
Schedule
Each YouTube destination has its own date and time within the proposal, like the other networks: you schedule it from the Schedule step and, at that time, ōrbita publishes.
Share the link on other networks
Once a video is published, the Share link on other networks button creates a text draft with the video’s URL for the networks you have connected among Facebook, LinkedIn and Google Business Profile. On Facebook it goes out as a post with a link, on LinkedIn as an article with a link and title, and on Google with the “Learn more” button. You review the draft and schedule it.
Metrics
Your channel’s and each video’s metrics are saved once a day, like on the other networks: see the Metrics guide for the full detail. One important warning: YouTube views cannot be compared directly with those of TikTok or Meta, because each network counts a “view” differently.
Ask your agent
If you have your agent connected to ōrbita, you can ask it to work on the video for you, for example:
- “Write the title and description of this YouTube video for me, with chapters.”
- “Add the tags and the category that fit it best.”
- “Tell me how many views and comments my latest video has.”
Your agent can write or rewrite the title, the description with its chapters, the tags and the category, and check your videos’ metrics. What it can never do is mark “made for kids”, the AI-generated content notice or the license, or publish or schedule: you always decide that, in ōrbita. More in Connect your agent and in ask your agent for YouTube videos (in Spanish).
What ōrbita does not do
- It does not edit or delete a video after it is published: that is done from YouTube Studio.
- It does not add subtitles.
- It does not publish more than one video per YouTube post.
