What the content language decides
The language is a setting of each company, not of your account. It governs everything ōrbita writes for that company: the communication strategy, the text of each content proposal, video scripts, per-network versions and production recommendations.
It is not the same as the language of the app. You can work in the app in English and have a company that ōrbita writes for in Brazilian Portuguese.
The variant matters. Plain “Spanish” produces text from nowhere. When you say which country or region your audience is from, ōrbita writes with the vocabulary and expressions from there: a car is a coche in Spain and a carro in Colombia, and what in Mexico is platicar (to chat) is charlar in Argentina.
The available languages
| Language | Variants |
|---|---|
| Español | Spain, Mexico, Argentina, Colombia, Chile, Peru, Uruguay, Latin America (neutral) |
| English | United States, United Kingdom |
| Português | Portugal, Brazil |
| Français | No variants |
| Italiano | No variants |
| Deutsch | No variants |
| Català | No variants |
Latin America (neutral) is the option for the countries that have no variant of their own (Ecuador, Venezuela, Central America, the Caribbean): it avoids the localisms of any one country and writes in a common Latin American Spanish. Only the variants whose wording really changes, because of vocabulary or voseo (using «vos» instead of «tú»), have their own variant.
How you address your audience
The form of address is how the content speaks to whoever reads it. Many languages have a familiar and a formal “you” (in Spanish, tú and usted; in French, tu and vous), and some also separate forms for one person or several (vosotros, ustedes). ōrbita offers the forms that really exist in each variant, so the options change with the language you chose. They appear in the language itself, as in the table.
| Language | Form of address options |
|---|---|
| Español (Spain) | Tú, Usted, Vosotros, Ustedes |
| Español (Mexico, Colombia, Chile, Peru, Latin America neutral) | Tú, Usted, Ustedes |
| Español (Argentina, Uruguay) | Vos, Usted, Ustedes |
| Català | Tu, Vostè, Vosaltres, Vostès |
| Français | Tu, Vous |
| Português (Portugal) | Tu, Você, Vocês |
| Português (Brazil) | Você, Tu, Vocês |
| Italiano | Tu, Lei, Voi |
| Deutsch | Du, Sie, Ihr |
| English | Not asked |
You always choose one: the question cannot be skipped. If a company was created earlier and never chose one, ōrbita decides the form of address from its sector and its audience until you define it.
Where you choose it: in onboarding
During each company’s onboarding, ōrbita asks about the language in three chained steps:
- Which language do you want me to prepare the content in for this company? You choose the language: Español, English, Português, Français, Italiano, Deutsch or Català.
- Which country or region is your audience from? It only appears for the languages with variants.
- How do you want to address your audience? It only appears for the languages that distinguish it.
If the company has a website, ōrbita reads it first and the language arrives already suggested. You confirm it or change it.
From your agent: any language
If you set up the company with your connected agent, you do not depend on the list above: your agent can ask ōrbita to write in any language, for example Japanese, Arabic or Dutch. It suggests one, normally the language you write to it in or the one of your website or documents, tells you why, and saves it when you confirm.
The form of address is always one that language has, for one person or for several. ōrbita does not save a form of address the language does not have and, if you change language, it removes the one that no longer fits so you can choose another. In Company settings > Company, Settings section, you will see the name of that language even if it is not in the app’s selector.
Where you change it later
In the company, go to Company settings > Company and scroll down to the Settings section. There is Language and form of address, in a single control that asks the same as onboarding and in the same order: language, region and form of address. It saves by itself, with no save button: when «Saved» appears below, it is done.
In that same section are the calendar time zone and how many proposals of each format you want per month.
Changing the language and the form of address, like the monthly split of formats, is part of the Star plan. The Editor, Admin and Owner levels can change it. The Viewer level can see it but not touch it. The detail is in collaborators.
When the change applies
In the next delivery of proposals. ōrbita writes the next month’s proposals around the 15th of each month, so change the language or the form of address before that date if you want it to affect next month.
Proposals already written are not rewritten on their own: they stay in the language the company had when they were generated. If you need one in the new language before the next delivery, edit it by hand or create a draft.
The communication strategy is not translated on its own either. It is written in the company’s language the next time it is generated.
If you change variant and the form of address no longer fits
Moving a company from Spain to Argentina leaves a form of address like “vosotros” orphaned, because it does not exist there. That is why the control asks you again: when you change language or variant nothing is saved until you choose the form of address among those that exist in the new variant, and both values are saved together. This way the company never ends up with a language and a form of address that do not match, which shows in every sentence: that value goes literally into the instructions we use to write.
