Where Buffer is better

  • It has a free plan: up to 3 connected social networks and 1 user. ōrbita only has a trial of 14 days.
  • It connects 12 networks, including X, Threads, Pinterest, Bluesky, Mastodon and Substack. ōrbita publishes to 6.
  • Its comments inbox covers 10 networks. ōrbita's covers 4: Instagram, Facebook, TikTok and Google Business Profile.
  • It keeps the metrics history from Essentials. In ōrbita the history is in Star; Satellite shows 30 days.
  • It has an API on every plan, with a monthly quota of requests. ōrbita has no public API.

Where ōrbita is better

  • The AI knows each company: ōrbita fills in its memory by reading its website (communication plan, tone, catalog, frequently asked questions, dates and reviews) and your team edits it. Buffer has no company memory: its assistant asks you to describe the business.
  • It works on its own: every month it proposes 8 posts per company from that memory, without anyone asking, with the why and the copy for each network (Star plan). Buffer's assistant writes when you ask it to.
  • It writes each company's communication plan, the client sees it through a link with no account, and reviews and approves proposals at no cost (Star plan). Buffer does not write the plan, and the client needs an account and the Team plan.
  • On any plan, Satellite included, you connect your own AI (Claude, ChatGPT or another compatible one) to your companies over MCP; with Star, ōrbita also fills in each company's memory (strategy, catalog, questions, social proof and dates) and your AI works on top of it. Buffer also has an MCP connector, but without a company memory behind it.
  • Your agent manages saved replies over MCP, with the same permissions as you: it reads them, uses them, creates them, edits them, deletes them and comments on them. Buffer's MCP connector schedules and reads posts, but does not reach comments or saved replies.

Choose Buffer if

  • You want to start free with up to 3 connected social networks.
  • You post on X, Threads, Pinterest, Bluesky, Mastodon or Substack.
  • You reply to comments on more networks than the 4 ōrbita's inbox covers.
  • You need to connect through an API.

Choose ōrbita if

  • You want each month's content proposed and written without asking for it, not an assistant you have to ask for ideas (Star plan).
  • You want the AI, ōrbita's or your own over MCP, to work with what it already knows about each company.
  • Your client has to review and approve at no cost (Star plan).
  • You run an agency and want the knowledge of each client not to depend on who handles them: it stays in your agency's account and whoever steps in picks up with the same memory.
  • You do not want to give up any network to save money: in ōrbita every company includes all its networks.

Pricing and billing model

In Buffer every connected social network (a Facebook Page, an Instagram, a LinkedIn) is a paid channel; in ōrbita the price is per company and includes all its networks.

Buffer

  • Per connected social network: each Facebook Page, Instagram account or LinkedIn profile is a paid channel; from the eleventh on, cheaper.
  • Essentials: 5 USD a month for each connected social network, or 60 USD a year.
  • Unlimited users, approvals and permissions on Team: 10 USD a month for each connected social network, or 120 USD a year.
  • Free plan: up to 3 connected social networks, 10 scheduled posts for each and 1 user.

ōrbita

  • Per company you manage: each company has its own plan, with all its networks, no commitment.
  • Satellite: €4 a month per company, or €3.33 a month billed annually, taxes not included.
  • Star: €15 a month per company, or €12.50 a month billed annually, taxes not included.
  • Galaxy: coming soon.
  • No free plan; a trial of 14 days with no card. Taxes not included.

What ōrbita does not do today

  • It does not create images or video: it writes the texts, the scripts and the prompts for your favorite image generator, and you can bring in your own material from Canva and Google Drive
  • It does not publish to X, Threads, Pinterest, Bluesky or LinkedIn company pages
  • It has no inbox for private messages (it does have one for comments, mentions and reviews), no social listening and no competitor analysis
  • It has no PDF reports and no white label
  • It has no public API (it does have an MCP connector so your own agent can work with your companies)
  • It does not yet have one shared database that feeds several locations at once: each company runs on its own data
