Connect
In Company settings > Tools there is one row for Canva and another for Google Drive. Each one is connected with the button in its row: the Canva or Google permissions screen opens, you accept and you return to ōrbita with the account linked. The row shows which account you are connected with.
The connection is yours, not the company’s: each person connects their own Canva or Google account and uses it in the companies they have access to. A collaborator does not see your designs or your files.
If you open a proposal without having connected anything, the buttons are still there: tapping them starts the connection on the spot and, when it finishes, the import continues.
Canva
Two buttons in the Production step of the proposal:
- Import from Canva. The list of your designs opens, with a search box. You choose one, ōrbita exports it (PNG or JPG for an image, MP4 for video) and adds it as material of the proposal.
- Create with Canva. It creates a new, empty design in the format you choose, copies the proposal’s prompt to the clipboard so you can paste it in Canva, and opens the design in Canva. When you return to ōrbita, the proposal offers you to import what you have made.
The original design stays in your Canva: ōrbita keeps the export, not the design.
Google Drive
One button, Import from Google Drive, in the same places as the Canva one. The Google file picker opens (the same dialog Google uses in its products), with your folders, the search box and the shared drives. You tick one or several files and ōrbita downloads them and adds them as material. The original file is not modified or moved from your Drive.
What ōrbita sees of your Drive is only what you choose. We ask Google for the drive.file permission, together with your basic identity: it does not give access to the rest of the Drive, so ōrbita does not list, browse or keep an index of your folders. The search and the selection happen inside Google’s picker, in your browser.
Limits:
- Images up to 10 MB (PNG, JPG, WebP or GIF) and videos up to 100 MB (MP4, MOV or WebM). They are the same limits as when uploading from your computer.
- Google documents (Docs, Slides, Sheets) are not imported: the connector is for images and video. The picker already hides them.
After importing
What you import behaves like any uploaded file: crop per network, Reel or TikTok cover, YouTube thumbnail and preview. If you later change the design in Canva or the file in Drive, import it again; ōrbita does not sync changes.
Disconnect
From Company settings > Tools, in the Canva or Google Drive row. When you disconnect, ōrbita withdraws the permission with Canva or Google and deletes the tokens immediately; the account’s other identifiers are deleted within the periods of the privacy policy. You can also withdraw access from your Google account in Third-party connections.
The designs and files you had already imported stay in their proposals: they were a copy, not a link.
Who it is for
Included in the Satellite, Star and Galaxy plans, at no additional cost, for all the companies in the account. Canva is in the web version and in the mobile apps. Google Drive is in the web version; on mobile it is not needed, because the iOS and Android file picker already offers Google Drive as a source when uploading material.
