Google Drive connected: bring your images and videos into a proposal

A new Google Drive connector, next to the Canva one. You connect your account once and pick files from your Drive in Google's picker to add them as the material of a proposal, with no need to download them first. Included in all plans, in the web version.

What changes

Until today, to use a video or an image you had in Google Drive in a proposal you had to download it to your computer and upload it again. From today ōrbita has a Google Drive connector, just like the Canva one: you connect your Google account once and, at every point where you add material, “Import from Google Drive” appears next to “Import from Canva”.

You pick the file in Google’s picker (the same dialog as always, with your folders, the search box and the shared drives) and ōrbita brings it into the proposal as one more file, with the per-network crop, the covers and the thumbnails you already know. The original file is not modified or moved from your Drive.

What ōrbita sees of your Drive

Only the files you pick, one by one. We only ask for Google’s drive.file permission, which does not give access to the rest of the Drive: ōrbita does not list, browse or keep an index of your folders. The search and the selection happen inside Google’s picker, in your browser.

You can disconnect whenever you want from Connections, in the Tools section, or from the security page of your Google account. When you disconnect we withdraw the permission right away. The detail is in the privacy policy.

Limits

  • Images up to 10 MB and videos up to 100 MB, the same limits as when you upload from your computer.
  • Google documents (Docs, Slides, Sheets) are not imported: the connector is for images and video.

Who it is for

Included in all plans, at no extra cost. Like Canva, which from today is also in all plans.

For now it works in the web version of ōrbita. On mobile you do not need it: the iOS and Android file picker itself already offers Google Drive as a source when you upload material.
